PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Casting directors are now scouting for talents to star in the new feature film Backpage: The Movie.
Backpage: The Movie tells the story of a young prostitute Moni who recently escaped from the hands of his menacing pimp. She crossed roads with a college student and tech savvy Kamal who is also on the run from his dark past. Eventually, they decided to help each other to find both of their ways to freedom.
In the light of this matter, they are seeking for an African-American male to portray Kamal, a 19- to 20-year-old college student in a community college, who tries eagerly to throw away his mischievous ways and run from his dark past. He found himself to have knack in computers and technology, so he attended college to change his path.
Meanwhile, they are also looking for an actress of any ethnicity to play Kamal’s love interest, Moni, a 20-year-old beautiful prostitute who has been in the business since she was 15 years old. She ran away from his pimp, not just to escape him, but also to alter her fate.
Also, the role of Styles is available. Styles, a.k.a. DoDhat, is the clever pimp of Moni in his late 40s or early 50s, who is very street-smart and takes his pimping very seriously. He also has the delusion of grandeur, which gives him the tendency to take no responsibilities for his actions.
Those from an Indian descent are also sought for the role of Mr. Siad, the proprietor of the motel where Kamal lives. He stands as the father-figure for Kamal as he knows about the boy’s past.
Meanwhile, Deon is Kamal’s hot-headed and womanizer friend who indulges himself in drugs. He persistently comes up with plans and schemes to drag Kamal to his old ways. Despite all of this, he is very loyal to Kamal, and he treats him as his family.
The role for Deon is open, and they need an African-American male to play his part.
They also need a female talent of any ethnicity to depict Det. Saans, the beautiful but tough and overachieving head of the cybercrime unit. She values her work more than any personal relationships—the reason as to why she has no family.
Furthermore, casting directors are searching for a male talent of any ethnic descent for the role of Big Al, Styles’s muscle, who does whatever he commands him to do.
Also, a male talent is sought for the role of Jesse, Kamal’s cheap boss from the tattoo parlor, who puts his business first in his priority list. They are also looking for a male talent to be the actor for Alex, Kamal’s 20-year-old high school friend who attends college at Eastern Michigan. He is goal-driven and pushed beyond his belief.
